On 12-15-10 my Desk Top computer was reading the SDHC & SD Cards with no problems through the built in media card reader, except the little import window at the lower right hand side of the screen would not go away no matter what, I would have to log off & log back on to get rid of it.Then on 12-18-10 if I inserted the SD or SDHC Card & NOTHING would happen on the monitor. It was like nothing got plugged in. It would show up from clicking on the start button > computer as a removeable storage device but it would not ask to import the pictures. No window popping up or anything.
If I insert one of the SD or SDHC cards into a USB adapter then plugged that into a USB Port it would work just fine. I tried with four different memory cards.
Why does the computer O.S. recognise that the card inserted & even the computer itself would know it was inserted because there is a little light that flashes when something is plugged in. But it does not ask to import and TAG the pictures directly from the built in card reader?
I have been on the phone with Gateway on 3 seperate occasions trying to update ALL the Drivers & trying the System Restore to a day before thatI know it actually worked.
I even spent an Hour & 45 minutes on the phone with a Microsft Tech. via remote control and still couldn't fix the problem. Each one wants to blame the other but I see plenty of people have very similar issues.
My computer was purchased 4 1/2 months ago. It is a Gateway FX6840-03e. It is a pretty powerful rig but all of a sudden something happend and now it will not import pictures from the card reader. I have to import via USB port!
The strange thing is that my Sister was telling me the same exact thing happend to her computer about a week and a half ago. She is set up to download & install updates automatically. I am set up just to be notified to Download and Install them myself.
Why wouldn't the Back-up & Restore even work to a date that we both knew for positive that our computers were working fine?
We sooo need some help! Does anybody have any solutions or suggestions? The only help we got so far was to 'Re-install the whole Operating Sysetm.'
